About

The Farm House is a family owned fresh meat butchery, smokehouse and small goods maker.

The proprietor and general manager is David Hohnen. David is better known as a winemaker and he uses those same skills in the preparation of herbs and spices for the specialty fresh sausages, smoked sausage and fresh honey brines for cured and smoked products.

We use freshly prepared shavings from apple tree logs sourced in Donnybrook orchards to impart our unique smokey flavour and aroma.

The Farm House uses principally pork and lamb for the small goods and specialty fresh sausages. Fresh cuts are available from lamb, pork and beef.

History

The Farm House is located on a small farm on a bend in the Margaret River where it makes it's last reach for the Indian Ocean.

Purchased in 1978 by Hazel McHenry and gifted to her daughter Sandy ( nee McHenry ) and David Hohnen, the farm became known as McHenry's Farm.

Vines were planted in 1982 and today those vines produce grapes for the family venture, McHenry Hohnen wines.

The McHenry Hohnen winery is located on Rocky Road south of Witchcliffe. The cellar door is more conveniently located on the McHenry's Farm among the vineyards that are referred to by the locality name, Burnside.

The Farm House is at 5962 Caves Road and shares a building with McHenry Hohnen Cellar Door.

The Farm House is not open to the public, but we have a small selection of the smallgoods retailed at the cellar door. Orders for meat can be placed by calling us – please allow a minimum of 1 week’s notice.
